𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐟 + 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: 𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫! Our new turf practice field is looking sharp! The lines and logo are officially in place, and we’re now in the infill application phase. Crews are spreading a mix of sand and rubber crumb (those tiny black pieces that end up all over your floor, iykyk) across the surface, a key step that adds cushioning, helps turf blades stand tall, and enhances safety for our athletes. 🥎 Meanwhile, over at the softball field, the first layer of sand has been laid to help with drainage prep. Things are moving right along, and we’re still hopeful that our Varsity Rocket softball girls will get to play at least two home games on their brand-new field this season! We’re so excited to see these projects coming together for our students. Stay tuned for more updates!

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 – 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 For many of our high schoolers, the library is more than just a place to find books—it’s a quiet retreat in the middle of a busy day, a space to focus, and sometimes, exactly the escape they need when life feels overwhelming. Here’s what they had to say about their library: 💬 "I think having a library in general is just great because people can use the library to develop their creativity and generate new ideas." 💬 "A couple things I appreciate about the library are the fact that I can always fo get a new book when ever I finish my last one, and it is a nice a quiet place for me to do my homework." 💬 "What I appreciate about the school library is that you can read in there, or you can study, or even just take a break from life. Being in the library is like a break from reality. You are allowed to dream and explore on your own time." 💬 "I appreciate that the library is a quiet place where people can focus on their studies. I feel comfortable in the library." 💬 "Having a library in the high school matters because if some people don't have access to a library or even books at home they can explore the library on their own time and whenever they want. It gives them the opportunity to have a place they can study and take a break from real life and destress." 💬 "I like that I can come into the library to just relax and get homework done." High school can be stressful, and we love that our students have found a space that brings them peace. ❤️🖤 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂: What’s a book that has helped you through a tough time or changed the way you see the world? National Asst Principals Week April 7-11, Miss Rusk and Mr Welch
𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍: 𝐅𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐋𝐈𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒! April is National School Library Month, and from April 6-12, we celebrate National Library Week! Libraries are more than just shelves of books—they are launchpads for imagination, knowledge, and discovery! Our librarians work hard to inspire a love for reading, and now it's our turn to support them! This National Library Month, help us fuel our school libraries by donating books and materials from their Amazon Wish List. Every book added is another student’s mind ready for liftoff! 📖 DID YOU KNOW? National Library Week began in 1958 to encourage Americans to read more and support their libraries. Today, we continue that mission—because strong libraries create strong learners! 📚 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡! With a love for music that began in her childhood and a heart for service as a member of the Kansas Army National Guard, Mrs. Ashurst inspires students both in and outside of the classroom! 🎤 What inspired you to become a music teacher? My band teachers from middle and high school. They helped me get a scholarship to go to Ft. Hays Band Camp in the summer and I really enjoyed it a lot! 🎤 How did you first get involved with music? I first got involved with music in elementary school and enjoyed singing and playing all of the instruments. I also listened to Elton John and his music inspired me! 🎤 What’s your favorite instrument to play (or teach) and why? I love the recorder even though some people hate it. I enjoyed learning it in elementary school and I enjoy teaching it now. It helps students understand what it’s like to learn and practice an instrument. It is also one of the most accessible instruments for young students to perform on. 🎤 What’s one memorable moment from your teaching career that stands out? When I first started teaching, I taught middle school band and orchestra. When I was able to take those students to solos and ensembles and they did well, that was an amazing feeling! 🎤 If you could perform with any musician or band (past or present), who would it be? Elton John- that would be amazing! He could accompany me on a clarinet solo! 🎤 What’s one piece of advice you’d give to students interested in pursuing music? Practice all the time, even if you are naturally talented. You can always improve yourself and learn from other inspiring musicians! If you can get to a point to taking lessons before college, that would be helpful too! 🎤 What’s your go-to song that always lifts your spirits? Piano Man- Billy Joel 🎤 What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you as a musician? I perform in the Kansas Army National Guard 35th Infantry Division Band. I am an Army musician and I enjoy getting to serve my country with playing my instrument. I have had a lot of great opportunities because of this! 🎤 How do you think music education positively impacts students? It truly impacts them in so many ways- it helps to lift their spirits, get them moving, to get them motivated, increased test scores, to work as a team, to be disciplined since practice is crucial to success, and to have fun! 🎤 What’s your favorite part about teaching music at Rose Hill Schools? I love the students and families, they are incredible! There are so many talented students and I feel blessed to work with them!
